About Us
Social video whizzes, we need you! Metro brings news, sport, analysis, features, opinion, and everything in between to a fast-growing global audience and we’re now looking for a talented Social Video Journalist, specialising in news, to join our London team.

Ideal candidates will have a great understanding of current affairs and everything important to Gen Z (and maybe millennials too). You’ll be across reactive news and original formats.
Your fingers must be on the pulse of online conversation. You should be able to spot a new story or rising trend and act quickly to generate engaging video content around this. The ability to create and present a compelling narrative is a must.
We’re particularly looking for candidates with a bubbly personality who can bring energy to every single video they star in. That’s why we’re asking for you to submit a TikTok/short-form video introducing yourself, alongside your CV .

- Bring new, high-quality, original content to life – from ideation to delivery
- Be prepared to guide junior members of staff in storytelling
- Use data and analytics to inform decisions on pitches and future content
- Help build a strong Metro voice across our social video output
- Understand legal covenants such as the UK Editors’ Code of Practice, media law, copyright law and editorial guidelines in the UK and globally
Key Skills and Experience
- At least two years of experience working within a news/media environment at a local or national level
- A strong news sense, with a creative approach to storytelling
- An understanding of the vertical video environment
- Experience in scripting, producing, editing and delivering video content
- Filming experience preferred
- An understanding of how analytics impacts content decisions
- Ability to edit using Adobe Premiere Pro and other editing suites
- Understanding of the UK Editors’ Code of Practice, media and copyright law
- Willingness to work in a dynamic, fast-paced 24/7 news environment with the flexibility to work unsociable hours as and when required
The above list is not exhaustive and constantly evolving, based on the needs of the business. Out-of-hours availability and a high level of adaptability are essential.
Your shift rotation will include one day of the weekend.
Please apply by sending an up-to-date CV and TikTok/short-form video introducing yourself (a link from the CV to a video will suffice).
