What you will do:
- Protect Metro Bank by setting litigation strategy and leading the effective management of significant disputes, investigations, complaints, remediation matters and othercontentious legal risk
- Exercise sound judgement and remain calm, resilient and decisive when managing complex, ambiguous or sensitive matters
- Build trusted relationships and communicate complex legal and commercial issues clearly and persuasively to the Board, senior management and other key decision-makers
- Manage external counsel, litigation budgets, exposure assessments and reporting, providing constructive, evidence-based challenge at peer level and above
- Lead, support and develop more junior members of the Legal team

What you will need:
- Detailed knowledge of complex commercial and financial services disputes, including High Court litigation, alternative dispute resolution, privilege, disclosure, evidence and enforcement
- An understanding of regulatory investigations, customer complaints and remediation matters, including the Financial Ombudsman Service complaints process
- Confident overseeing the preparation of statements of case, applications, witness evidence and other key litigation documents, and managing proceedings through to settlement, judgment and enforcement
- Detailed knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment relevant to a listed retail bank
- A qualified Solicitor or Barrister in England & Wales
- Substantial post-qualification contentious experience gained in-house and/or in private practice, independently managing complex, high-value or strategically important disputes
- Financial services experience, whether in-house or in private practice
