As the Regulatory Reporting Assurance Specialist, you will provide independent oversight, challenge and assurance over Metro Bank's regulatory reporting, acting as a control-focused partner to BAU colleagues while delivering the Regulatory Reporting Self-Assessment Framework. Although independent from daily production, it supports peak BAU periods and regulatory change activity to ensure continuity, resilience, high-quality submissions, and strong working relationships across multiple teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead independent assurance reviews on COREP, FINREP, liquidity, statistical and other PRA/BoE returns.
- Assess data lineage, controls, reconciliations, adjustments, and documentation quality.
- Provide robust challenge to BAU teams to ensure reporting judgements are well supported and compliant.
- Produce clear, concise assurance reports and recommendations for senior stakeholders.
- Own and operate the Regulatory Reporting Self-Assessment Framework.
- Coordinate attestation cycles, gather evidence, score control health, and challenge the completeness of assessments.
- Ensure assessments are audit-ready, with documented control testing, findings, and remediation actions.
- Identify thematic issues and escalated material weaknesses where appropriate.
- Actively support the BAU reporting team during peak periods, such as quarter-ends, year-end, or regulatory deadlines.
- Assist with data validations, reconciliations, variance analysis, and quality checks on key returns.
- Help investigate unusual movements or data anomalies to ensure timely resolution.
- Provide additional capacity to maintain reporting resilience while retaining appropriate independence of thought.
Qualifications
- Strong experience of Regulatory Reporting within UK Financial Services.
- Deep technical knowledge of FINREP, COREP and Liquidity returns.
- Excellent ability to analyse and explain reports and movements to a variety of stakeholders.
- Strong technical skills with MS Excel combined with excellent analytical skills to reconcile data and produce reports.
- Excellent organisation skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and work to strict deadlines.
- ACCA, CIMA qualified or equivalent.
