Responsibilities

  • Deliver pre‑lend and in‑life Block Discounting and Receivables audits (monthly, quarterly or risk‑based), producing reports on time and to the required depth and quality in line with approved SOPs.
  • Undertake Sub‑Hire audits, ensuring verification of asset ownership, utilisation, customer eligibility and compliance with facility terms.
  • Complete asset inspections, reconciliations and validation reviews across all Asset Finance products (HP, Lease, Loan and Sub‑Hire) in accordance with SOPs and audit scopes.
  • Apply professional judgement to expand testing where risk indicators are identified, ensuring issues are fully understood, evidenced and clearly documented.
  • Identify, assess and report Minimum Cover Ratio (MCR), SNC and other covenant breaches, control weaknesses, fraud indicators and operational risks.
  • Promptly advise Block and Receivables customers of confirmed breaches, clearly articulating the required cures (e.g. collateral top‑ups, cash injections, replacement paper).
  • Escalate material issues, emerging risks and repeat findings through appropriate governance channels in line with escalation procedures.
  • Liaise effectively with Wholesale / Block Relationship Managers and Business Development Directors to plan, scope and prioritise audit and survey activity.
  • Proactively engage with Block, Receivables and Asset Finance customers and prospects, ensuring they are informed, prepared and cooperative ahead of audit or survey visits.
  • Build constructive working relationships while maintaining independence, professionalism and objectivity at all times.
  • Organise and manage own diary, travel and workload to ensure all assigned audits, inspections and reports are completed within agreed timescales.
  • Maintain sufficient survey and inspection capacity to respond to business demand, risk‑based reviews and ad‑hoc requests.
  • Produce clear, accurate and well‑structured audit reports, setting out findings, root causes, risk ratings and recommended actions.
  • Maintain high‑quality audit files and evidence trails to support internal review, external audit and regulatory scrutiny.
  • Operate in line with internal policies, SOPs, FCA and AML requirements, and best practice within Asset Finance audit and assurance.
  • Support continuous improvement of audit methodologies, controls and processes across the Asset Finance portfolio.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience working in an Asset Finance audit, assurance, controls or risk role, with hands‑on delivery of pre‑lend and in‑life reviews.
  • Strong, practical experience of Block Discounting and/or Receivables Purchase facilities, including portfolio testing, collateral verification and cover ratio validation.
  • Experience of undertaking Sub‑Hire audits, asset inspections and validation exercises across a range of asset types.
  • Experience of reviewing asset finance agreements, schedules and supporting documentation for HP, Lease and Loan products.
  • Proven ability to identify covenant breaches, control weaknesses and fraud indicators, and to clearly document findings and required remedial actions.
  • Experience of producing clear, structured and timely audit reports suitable for senior stakeholders, Credit and Risk teams.
  • Experience of working directly with customers, relationship managers and business development teams in a professional and structured audit environment.
  • Strong understanding of the UK Asset Finance market and product types (HP, Lease, Loan, Sub‑Hire).
  • Awareness of FCA, AML, KYC and Consumer Duty considerations relevant to Asset Finance and wholesale structures.
