When you apply for the Head of Product role at Metro Bank (UK), you will be leading Product within our Payment and Enterprise Services value stream. You will work closely with Heads of Engineering and Delivery and cover a range of the bank’s products, including payment flows, card management, fraud operations, financial crime, regulatory reporting, data transformation, and colleague tech in stores and our contact centre.

What You Will Do

  • This Head of Product role leads Product within our Payment and Enterprise Services value stream.
  • Working alongside Heads of Engineering and Delivery, the role covers a wide range of the bank’s products.
  • You will be responsible for your teams’ products across key areas of the bank, delivering FANtastic experiences for our customers, working closely with multiple stakeholders across a range of departments.
  • You will lead a team of Lead Product Owners and Product Owners to identify the key priorities for delivery – and assess the value of projects and ongoing iterations.
  • Work with your team to build up their expertise in prioritising a roadmap of added value.
  • You will work with the business to manage pivots in direction, and will communicate changes to the team.
  • You will work with the Senior Leadership Team to help set commercial objectives and derive these into the key pillars for the roadmap.
  • You will set strategic investigations and projects looking to the future of the bank and how we can deliver value.
  • You will derive new product opportunities and assign these into the teams, and across value streams.
  • You will ensure the smooth running of their product teams through managing quarterly review sessions and PI planning processes from a strategic level.
  • Ensuring there is constant communication and transparency from Product and that teams are following agreed processes and meeting structures.
  • Ensuring we are consistent and documented for internal and external audits.
  • Setting out a clear structure for product processes for how we build end-to-end.
  • Ensuring teams engage with UXUI.
  • Ensuring we are building journeys and experiences which can be analysed by Product.
  • Putting our FANS, data and insights into the heart of the team.
  • You will work in collaboration with technology to create a lasting partnership which promotes a collaborative way of working.
  • You will work with both internal and external stakeholders to build strong relationships and increase awareness and visibility of product practices.
  • You will challenge and evolve our ways of working to drive better customer outcomes at pace whilst safeguarding quality and conduct risk.
  • You will line manage multiple Lead Product Owners and Product Owners.
  • You will champion Product as a team with the Executive Committee and Senior Leadership Team, highlighting our great work and showcasing new ideas.
  • You will chair team meetings: Weekly product sessions – focused on customer and competitor analysis; Monthly overarching strategy sessions – looking at broader themes for delivery and the roadmap ahead.

What You Will Need

  • You will have experience in coaching and developing Product Owners at varying stages of their careers to create a high‑performing Product function and the product leaders of tomorrow.
  • You will understand modern product practices and have experience in their pragmatic application to build great products our FANs love.
  • You will know how to build a data‑centric culture – you will promote great practices.
  • You should be able to drive excellent communication and negotiation within the Product team.
  • You must have the ability to build roadmap presentations and strategies for the quarterly review sessions.
  • You should have experience in delivering multiple new product lines from scratch.
  • You can drive customer analysis and ensure we are mapping customer journeys.
  • You understand the regulatory and reporting requirements of the bank.
  • You will be driven to deliver simple and quick customer/end‑user centric journeys.
  • You should have exceptional attention to detail ensuring the roadmap is updated correctly and that presentations will be of the highest standard from the team.
  • You will have the ability to foresee how we can proactively use KPIs to protect ourselves from reactive pivots in the roadmap.
  • You have experience encouraging all teams to build flexible and evolving processes which help increase the delivery of value.
  • You will be able to build a culture where risk is managed in line with our processes and procedures.
  • You need to be a strong leader with a passion for teamwork.
