What You Will Do
- Support the Fraud Lead Manager in developing, executing, and continuously enhancing the Bank’s fraud risk strategy.
- Provide expert oversight, ensure regulatory compliance, strengthen risk frameworks, and support informed, risk‑based decision‑making.
- Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders on fraud risks, emerging industry developments and mitigation strategies.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to first line teams on fraud risk matters, promoting awareness, alignment and informed decision‑making.
- Maintain oversight of emerging fraud typologies, regulatory developments and industry trends, translating insights into actionable guidance.
- Support the development, maintenance and reporting of fraud risk appetite statements and key risk indicators (KRIs).
- Support thematic reviews, risk assessments and control testing activities related to fraud risks and emerging threats.
- Review and challenge the design and effectiveness of fraud risk frameworks, policies, standards and methodologies to ensure regulatory compliance and alignment with the Bank’s risk appetite.
- Oversee implementation and ongoing effectiveness of fraud prevention, detection and response controls across products, channels and customer journeys.
- Ensure robust risk management action plans are established where issues are identified and oversee progress through to effective remediation.
- Support the use of data analytics, automation and emerging technologies to enhance fraud risk oversight and insight.
- Prepare clear, concise management information and reports for governance forums and senior stakeholders.
What You Will Need
- Strong experience in fraud risk management/fraud prevention within a financial services environment.
- Experience in a second‑line fraud risk role is preferred.
- Excellent capability with the ability to interpret data, trends and risk indicators.
- Strong understanding of fraud typologies across retail and banking products and channels.
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks and industry guidance (e.g. FCA, PRA, PSD2, APP fraud expectations).
- Proven ability to provide constructive challenge while maintaining effective stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to apply a proportionate, risk‑based approach to fraud risk management in line with regulatory expectations and the bank’s risk appetite.
- Experience of producing clear, concise material for senior management and governance forums.
- Excellent stakeholder relationship skills combined with strong problem‑solving ability.
