What You Will Do

  • Support the Head of Business & Credit Support and Asset Finance Credit Partner in identifying, categorising and managing AF customers showing signs of risk deterioration, taking ownership of customer engagement and management through insolvency and formal recovery processes as appropriate, focusing on achieving both a full understanding of and the best outcome for the Bank and customer within an acceptable timescale.
  • Early engagement with such customers, negotiating with them and their advisers alongside Credit Partners from B&C, the Head of Recoveries and Asset Management for AF and the wider AF collections team.
  • Involve insolvency professionals, lawyers, recovery agents and auction houses.
  • Develop specific timebound strategic action plans to address lending quality concerns, ideally assisting with individual provisioning calculations where appropriate, ensuring a prompt and appropriate understanding of the position and response/engagement with customers.
  • Be mindful of and follow Treating Customers Fairly principles at all times.
  • Understand the recovery process from early arrears through to contract termination, recovery and disposal of assets, demanding on guarantors and engaging 3rd party recovery agents, solicitors and insolvency practitioners, where needed.
  • Maintain accurate information and data records in the Customer Relationship Management based Case Management System and Commercial Risk Grading Application customer rating system.
  • Appropriately engage with insolvency / property & legal professionals cost effectively on cases, always aiming for the most appropriate strategy within an acceptable timescale, reviewed with HO B&C and Credit Partners.

What You Will Need

  • Some experience of collections or recoveries in Asset Finance.
  • Good experience of customer relationship management including undertaking difficult conversations/negotiations.
  • Ideally an understanding and experience of AF documentation and general business & unregulated corporate/commercial bank lending.
  • Ideally some restructuring, insolvency and legal knowledge.
  • Some wider economic & business awareness.
  • Good understanding of and experience in conduct risk and TCF principles.
