We are also all about balance so most of our jobs offer the opportunity for hybrid working built around your role and home life, wherever possible.

You’ll play a pivotal role in driving sustainable growth across our large corporate segment. You’ll lead a high‑performing, diverse team of corporate banking professionals, delivering against our strategic ambitions while ensuring the highest standards of governance and regulatory compliance. Working closely with colleagues across Corporate Banking, Risk, Product and Operations, you’ll shape and deliver tailored, client‑centric solutions that deepen relationships and unlock long‑term value.

This role combines inspiring leadership with hands‑on relationship management. You’ll personally oversee a portfolio of our most strategic corporate clients, while building a strong external presence across professional networks. Your impact will be felt through business growth, exceptional colleague engagement, outstanding client outcomes, and consistent delivery of long‑term profitability.

What you will do:

  • Lead, inspire and develop a high‑performing team of Corporate Directors, Managers and Analysts, fostering an inclusive, high‑engagement culture.
  • Deliver against the annual operating plan, driving sustainable growth across revenue, lending and deposits.
  • Build and actively manage a strong, forward‑looking pipeline of new‑to‑bank corporate clients, with weekly forecasting discipline and clear revenue assurance.
  • Provide hands‑on leadership and coaching across deal structuring, credit assessment and transaction execution from origination through to drawdown.
  • Develop and execute a targeted marketing and networking strategy, strengthening relationships across key professional networks and intermediaries.
  • Act as a visible ambassador for Metro Bank, role‑modelling our values and contributing thought leadership within your sector or region.
  • Own and continuously enhance credit quality and operational risk standards, including Financial Crime, KYC, Fraud and Cyber, while ensuring an exceptional client experience.

And… we are a bank, so risk is part of everything we do. We love people who take responsibility, do the right thing for customers, colleagues and Metro Bank, and have the confidence to call out any concerns.

What you will need:

  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing high‑performing corporate banking or sector‑focused teams.
  • Strong track record in business development and origination, with the ability to generate and convert new opportunities.
  • Established and credible professional network, with demonstrable access to corporate clients and intermediaries.
  • Advanced credit risk, debt structuring and transaction management expertise.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and operational risk within corporate banking.
  • Strategic thinking capability, with the ability to analyse markets, identify opportunities and differentiate our proposition.
  • Confident and engaging communicator, able to influence senior stakeholders and present clearly at executive or Board level.
  • Deep knowledge of corporate and commercial banking products, services and operating models.
  • Experience leading people and delivering change in complex, regulated environments.
  • Sector expertise, ideally within industrials or related sectors, or the ability to rapidly build subject matter credibility.
  • Strong governance mindset, with a focus on risk‑aware, responsible growth.
  • A results‑driven approach, with a consistent track record of delivering through both personal contribution and team success.
  • Understand the risks associated with your job and what that means for you, Metro Bank and all our stakeholders.

Our promise to you:

We will make sure that you are well‑rewarded by providing you with a competitive salary, discretionary annual bonus, and a wide range of benefits, including generous holiday allowance, attractive pension scheme, healthcare, life assurance and a number of colleague discounts.
