What you will do
- You are a key component for delivering the business model for Corporate banking.
- Originate and manage a portfolio of Corporate customers, acting as an ambassador for Metro Bank and developing the bank's profile in the local community.
- Manage an active portfolio of Corporate banking customers and grow the bank with the acquisition of new customers.
- Develop and deliver a business plan, responding to internal risk challenges, external market challenges, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain active and influential relationships with key market professionals and players.
- Be Metro Bank's external face to the market (customers & professionals) building our brand reputation in this key marketplace.
- Manage all aspects of Risk, including Credit, Operational and Regulatory.
- Build an internal network across Metro Bank to ensure a One Team approach for customers and colleagues.
- Liaise with other internal stakeholders to deliver required propositions and pricing requirements, risk policies and reporting set and managed within appetites.
- Lead, coach and inspire other colleagues in the team and wider Bank.
- Be a role model for Corporate Banking and Metro Bank when dealing with customers, intermediaries and colleagues.
- Act with integrity at all times.
What you will need
- Proven track record of relationship management skills and strong sector knowledge across general trading business within commercial/corporate banking environments.
- Excellent credit underwriting skills, with a track record of lending to large SMEs/Mid‑Corporates.
- Comprehensive understanding and adeptness at managing all aspects of Risk.
- Track record in successfully building, maintaining and growing valuable banking relationships.
- Ability to promote the Metro Bank story to new customers and colleagues, creating new FANS.
- Excellent negotiation skills with an ability to interact and influence senior/executive management internally and externally.
- Extensive knowledge of different industries and sectors and how these perform both financially and structurally.
- Experience in credit writing, financial analysis and report writing for customers with complex needs.
- Strong understanding of Financial Crime, AML, KYC requirements as well as TCF/conduct expectations.
- Experience in a role of similar responsibility in the past.
- Ability to apply a pragmatic approach to managing multiple responsibilities within a rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to manage a profit and loss and a balance sheet within a complicated and challenging risk environment.
- Direct involvement with developing relationships both internally and externally at senior/executive level.
- Ability to represent your team and/or the Bank on various Committees, Forums and other formal groups.
