Construction Programme Manager

As Construction Programme Manager, you'll lead the delivery of Metro Bank's capital investment programme across our estate.

From new store openings and next generation refurbishments to workplace projects and remediation programmes, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of our physical footprint.

Through strong programme leadership, commercial expertise and stakeholder engagement, you'll ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards whilst creating spaces that support our customers and colleagues.

What will you be doing?

  • Leading the successful delivery of construction and refurbishment projects across the Metro Bank estate, from initial concept through to completion and handover.
  • Managing a diverse portfolio of projects including new stores, refurbishments, workplace projects, remediation works and strategic estate initiatives.
  • Partnering with Property, Retail, Facilities and other business stakeholders to develop project briefs and translate business requirements into deliverable solutions.
  • Taking ownership of project budgets, programmes, risks and governance to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within approved investment parameters.
  • Leading and coordinating consultants, contractors and specialist suppliers, creating a culture of collaboration, accountability and high performance.
  • Driving commercial excellence through effective procurement, contract management, change control and cost management processes.
  • Preparing robust business cases and securing appropriate approvals to support capital investment decisions.
  • Ensuring all statutory approvals, regulatory requirements and health and safety obligations are achieved throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Building strong relationships with landlords, local authorities, consultants and third parties to overcome barriers and support successful delivery.
  • Providing clear and meaningful project reporting, enabling informed decision making and effective risk management.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, balancing customer, colleague, operational and commercial considerations.
  • Continuously identifying opportunities to improve project delivery, construction standards and the overall performance of Metro Bank's estate.

What will you need?

  • Proven experience delivering retail fit out, refurbishment and construction programmes within a multi-site environment.
  • Strong project and programme management experience across the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and design through to construction and handover.
  • Experience managing complex stakeholder groups, building credibility and influencing decisions at all levels.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing project budgets, contracts, procurement activities and change control processes.
  • A thorough understanding of construction legislation, regulatory compliance, health and safety and risk management principles.
  • Experience leading external consultants, contractors and multidisciplinary project teams to achieve successful outcomes.
  • The ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery and practical problem solving.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex information clearly and confidently.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach, with the confidence to challenge, innovate and continuously improve.
  • Experience delivering customer-facing retail environments where quality, customer experience and operational continuity are critical.
  • A recognised qualification in a construction-related discipline such as Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying, Construction Management, CIOB or RICS.
