At Metro Bank, we believe the best banking experience starts with people who genuinely care. We’re not just delivering banking services - we’re building trust through authentic connections. Here, our people come first; our colleagues are part of a team that values individuality, collaboration, and long-standing relationships. We are also all about balance so most of our jobs offer the opportunity for hybrid working built around your role and home life, wherever possible.

What you will do:

  • As a Change Risk Manager, you will partner closely with Change, Delivery, and Business teams to provide expert risk insight, guidance, and constructive challenge across the change lifecycle.
  • Operating within the centralised Non-Financial Risk function, you will play a key role in embedding controls by design and compliance-led thinking across the bank’s change portfolio.
  • Your work will ensure that change initiatives are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with the bank’s risk appetite, regulatory expectations, and internal control framework.
  • Embed the Change Risk Policy and Standards across all change initiatives, ensuring consistent application and alignment with the bank’s risk management framework.
  • Promote and embed a controls-by-design approach, ensuring that risks are identified early and appropriate, proportionate controls are built into change from inception through to delivery.
  • Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with Change and business stakeholders, providing early, constructive challenge on emerging risks and control design.
  • Provide expert risk insight into change programmes by reviewing and challenging risk assessments, delivery approaches, control frameworks, and compliance considerations.
  • Support RCSA activities, contributing to the identification and assessment of key risks, evaluation of control effectiveness, and identification of emerging risk exposures across the change portfolio.
  • Drive a strong focus on regulatory compliance, ensuring change initiatives meet applicable legal, regulatory, and internal policy requirements.
  • Produce clear, high-quality risk reporting, delivering meaningful analysis on trends, themes, control effectiveness, and cumulative change risk to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Participate actively in change governance forums, ensuring decisions are risk-aware, well-evidenced, and aligned to the bank’s risk appetite and compliance obligations.
  • Build risk capability across Change and business teams, coaching stakeholders to strengthen understanding of risk principles, controls, and compliance requirements, and embedding sustainable risk practices.
  • Support continuous improvement of the change risk framework, with a focus on enhancing control design, effectiveness, and operational resilience.
  • Any other duties as reasonably required within the role.

And... we are a bank so risk is a part of everything we do. We love people who take responsibility, do the right thing for customers, colleagues and Metro Bank and have the ability to call out any concerns.

What you will need:

  • Experience in change risk, operational risk, non-financial risk, or control/compliance roles.
  • Understanding of controls design, control frameworks, and compliance requirements in a regulated environment.
  • Experience with RCSA processes and control assessments.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, using initiative to solve problems and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to provide effective, constructive challenge.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to translate complex risk and regulatory concepts into clear, practical guidance.
  • A collaborative mindset, with a willingness to roll up your sleeves, support delivery, and continuously improve risk practices.
  • A strong understanding of personal accountability for risk and what it means for you, the bank, and all stakeholders.
  • Understand the risks associated with your job and what that means for you, Metro Bank and all our stakeholders.

Our promise to you…

  • We will make sure that you are well-rewarded by providing you with a competitive salary, discretionary annual bonus, and a wide range of benefits, including generous holiday allowance, attractive pension scheme, healthcare, life assurance, and a number of colleague discounts!
  • We will give you the training to ensure you succeed in your role and plenty of internal opportunities to progress your career (around 40% of our recruitment comes from internal promotions!).

Diverse teams really are the best teams. We know that candidates (especially women, research tells us) may be put off applying for a job unless they can tick every box. We also know that ‘normal’ office hours aren’t always doable, and while we can’t accommodate every flexible working request we are happy to be asked. So if you are excited about working with us and think you can do much of what we are looking for but aren’t sure if you are 100% there yet… why not give it a whirl? Good luck!
