Special Air Missions Group (SAM) is responsible for developing and delivering Metrea’s Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), Special Mobility, and Aerial Firefighting (AFF) capabilities. SAM oversees the integration of new mission systems, ensuring operational readiness across specialized aviation operations. It manages fleet maintenance, regulatory compliance, and strategic partnerships to enhance mission effectiveness.
This role is responsible for operating a turbo-prop aircraft in accordance with UK CAA/FAA and EASA policies and Aviation Operations Europe Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This role is also responsible for flight planning, conducting aircraft pre-flight check, and coordinating with company site leads and aircrew to facilitate mission execution and operations.
- Operate a King Air 300 in accordance with EASA/CAA/FAA and company/customer directive as the Pilot in Command.
- Monitor airspace, weather, radio communications, mission flight boundaries, other air traffic, and aircraft systems.
- Coordinate all flights with appropriate Fixed Based Operators, Air Traffic Contact (ATC) facilities (military and civilian), Company Site Leads, and Mission Coordination Services.
- Ensure safe, effective and efficient flight operations to include identification of aircraft system malfunctions and performing required corrective actions.
- Perform ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) flights in day, night and all-weather conditions (within defined safety limits).
- Must be able to operate from remote, austere locations, possibly on unimproved runways.
- Completes all flight documentation in accordance with applicable industry and EASA/CAA/FAA standards.
Education
- Minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Mathematics.
- A-Levels or equivalent further education desirable.
Experience
- Minimum 1500 hours total flight time.
- Minimum 1000 hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC).
- Minimum 200 hours of night flight time.
- Minimum 500 hours of cross-country flight time.
- Minimum 500 hours PIC flight time in multi engine, turboprop aircraft.
Required Licenses and Certifications
- FAA Issued commercial Pilot License (CPL) with multi-engine (AMEL) rating and Instrument rating or an FAA issued Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) license with multi-engine land (AMEL) rating.
- UK CAA or EASA issued Commercial Pilot License (CPL) with Instrument Rating (IR) or Airline Transport Pilots License (ATPL) with Instrument Rating (IR).
- Must hold and maintain a valid UK/EASA/FAA Class 1 Medical Certificate (1st Class FAA medical).
This role will operate across the UK and European Union and will therefore require the successful candidate to have the legal right to work and travel freely within both the UK and the EU.
Desirable Experience and Certifications
- Valid FAA BE300 Type Rating.
- Valid UK or EASA BE300/1900 Type Rating.
- Commercial Special missions, or ISR experience.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all required training, background checks, and security clearances. Working hours and shift patterns may vary in line with operational demands to support mission effectiveness and customer satisfaction. The role involves rotational deployments within Europe, comprising of mixed deployment lengths on assignment followed by a similar period off rotation, with the UK & Europe as the home base of operations.
Work Location
During deployment, employees may be living under field conditions and must be able to work with little supervision in austere or arduous environments. Work environment varies based on contract.
Travel
This role will require travel worldwide as per the requirements of the mission contract. All candidates must possess and maintain a valid passport.
