We are seeking an experienced Head of Development to join our MRES‑ET team in our London office with weekly office presence required due to business needs. This critical leadership role is responsible for supervising the development of renewable energy projects and leading the development team. The successful candidate will drive strategic project initiatives, contribute to business growth, and ensure effective collaboration across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic plans for renewable energy projects, with a primary focus on solar and battery storage initiatives across the UK and Ireland.
- Lead and manage the development team to ensure the successful delivery of projects, providing guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversee and monitor the existing pipeline of renewable energy projects, ensuring the advancement to Ready to Build (RTB) status with all the risks managed.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government bodies, local communities, developers, and investors, to support and advance project development strategies.
- Work closely with the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) and Legal teams to facilitate project development tasks.
- Assist the grid team with planning and land‑related matters related to grid connection assets across the UK and Ireland.
- Participate in M&A activities, including both the sale and purchase of projects within the region.
- Identify and assess new commercial opportunities within the renewable energy sector in both the UK and Ireland.
- Review planning documentation for new projects during due diligence processes and coordinate with planning consultants to fulfil planning conditions and submit necessary variations.
- Prepare and oversee materials submitted to the internal investment committee.
- Prepare regular reports for both internal and external stakeholders and coordinate with central functions as required.
- Represent the company at industry events and forums to actively promote and enhance the company’s reputation within the country.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business Management, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in the development of renewable energy projects.
- Minimum of 2 years in a similar leadership position (essential requirement).
- Strong leadership abilities, critical thinking, and time‑management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Willingness and ability to travel as required for project development and stakeholder meetings.
