Metlen Energy & Metals is seeking an experienced Project Controls Manager to be based in London, supporting the delivery of major energy, power, and industrial projects across the UK. The role is responsible for the establishment and management of integrated project controls systems that provide transparency, governance, and assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in enabling informed decision-making by ensuring robust planning, cost control, progress measurement, risk management, and reporting are consistently applied in line with Metlen Energy & Metals’ standards and contractual requirements. Projects will be delivered within complex EPC/EPCM environments, requiring a proactive and structured approach to project controls.
Key Responsibilities- Establish, implement, and maintain integrated project controls frameworks covering schedule, cost, progress, risk, and performance reporting.
- Develop and manage approved project baseline schedules and cost baselines in collaboration with project teams.
- Monitor project performance using Earned Value Management and other recognised control methodologies.
- Produce accurate, timely, and high-quality project controls reports, dashboards, and forecasts for senior management and stakeholders.
- Identify schedule and cost variances, conduct root cause analysis, and recommend corrective or mitigation actions.
- Lead project risk and opportunity management processes, including quantitative risk analysis where required.
- Support formal change control processes, including assessment of schedule and cost impacts arising from variations and claims.
- Ensure alignment of project controls practices with Metlen Energy & Metals’ standards, governance frameworks, and industry best practices.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and line management to project controls personnel as applicable.
- Interface effectively with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commercial, and Finance teams to support integrated project delivery.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of project controls systems, tools, and processes.
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
- Professional certification such as PMP, AACE (PSP/CCP), or equivalent preferred.
- Membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g. APM, ICE, CIOB) is an advantage.
- Experience in project controls on large-scale infrastructure, energy, power, or industrial projects.
- Proven experience working within EPC and/or EPCM delivery environments.
- Experience on renewable energy, power generation, transmission, or major industrial projects is preferred.
- Experience within the UK project delivery environment is highly desirable.
- Advanced project planning and scheduling skills (Primavera P6 preferred).
- Strong background in cost control, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Practical application of Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Risk and opportunity management and change control expertise.
- Solid understanding of contractual and commercial principles, including EPC/EPCM contracts.
- Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Strong capability in developing project dashboards, KPIs, and performance reporting.
