Health & Safety Manager to join our Grid & Digital Solutions department, as part of the Thermal Power & HVDC division of Metlen, for the EGL1 Project, based in Torness.

As one of the Function Leads, the

Site Health & Safety Manager will serve as the focal point for all health and safety matters both internally within Metlen, with the Employer team, and with our subcontractors.

They will also be responsible for managing the relationship with the client team and ensuring compliance with the Contract Health & Safety Project Requirements (CHSPR)

Your role will encompass

  • Develop and implement the Health and Safety strategy for the project.
  • Review the Construction Phase Plan (CPP) regularly to ensure it remains a live document accurately reflecting project risks and activities.
  • Drive consistency on approach to all Health & Safety matters between the two sites.
  • Lead the project management team on Health and Safety issues.
  • Ensure the site teams prepare and maintain a RAMS Tracking Schedule.
  • Ensure implementation of the CPP by all Contractors.
  • Report and investigate all accidents and incidents.
  • Prepare and coordinate and rewards and recognition plan.
  • Conduct site tours to monitor Health and Safety standards.
  • Challenge and review all aspects of Health and Safety on the project.
  • Monitor, correct, and improve Health and Safety throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare Health and Safety reports as agreed with Metlen senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure adequate First Aid facilities are provided and maintained.
  • Deputise for the Project Leader in chairing the Health and Safety Committee.
  • Ensure management systems (procedures, processes, etc.) are correctly implemented.
  • Attend Pre-Start Meetings with Package Contractors.
  • Fulfil the role of Fire Safety Coordinator.
  • Fulfil the role of Site Emergency Coordinator.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, including those related to health and safety, environmental protection, and quality control.
  • Provide leadership in respect to issues resolution, assess criticality and make considered decisions in relation to escalation to the Head of Construction/Senior Project Manager where it is unable to be resolved locally or client optics dictate escalation.
