We are currently looking for a Senior Construction Engineer to join our UK team, within the Thermal Power & HVDC Division of Metlen Energy & Metals. This is a UK-wide search, and we welcome applications from suitable candidates based across the country.

About the role

This is a pivotal, hands‑on position at the heart of major energy infrastructure projects. As a Senior Construction Engineer, you’ll be the technical backbone on site driving progress, solving complex engineering challenges in real time, and ensuring construction is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. You’ll work at the intersection of design and execution, playing a key role in turning ambitious plans into operational reality.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide on-site engineering expertise, ensuring work aligns with drawings, specifications, and quality standards
  • Coordinate construction teams, contractors, and subcontractors for efficient project delivery
  • Monitor schedules, progress, and resources to meet key milestones
  • Identify and resolve technical issues with practical, timely solutions
  • Collaborate with design, engineering, and project teams to ensure technical accuracy
  • Promote and enforce strong HSE compliance and safety culture
  • Contribute to progress meetings and produce reports on performance and risks

What we’re looking for

  • 5+ years’ experience in construction engineering on large-scale industrial or power projects (CCGT preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and technical interfaces
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, planning, and quality control
  • Solid understanding of HSE standards and on‑site implementation
  • Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and leadership skills
