We are currently looking for a

Project Director (Solar/BESS) to join our team in the UK & Ireland.

The Project Director will take responsibility for the end-to-end leadership and delivery of utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) EPC projects , from tender preparation and contract negotiation through execution, commissioning and handover.

The role will hold overall accountability for project profitability, schedule, quality, HSE and client satisfaction , while coordinating cross-functional teams across Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Finance and Legal.

Your role will encompass

  • Leading and coordinating tender preparation, including reviewing requirements, identifying commercial risks and supporting client negotiations.
  • Developing and approving project budgets, cost of sales, cash flow forecasts and profitability margins.
  • Leading EPC contract negotiations covering commercial terms, payment schedules, performance guarantees, liabilities, warranties and risk allocation.
  • Overseeing procurement and supply chain activities across PV modules, inverters, BESS, MV/HV equipment, structures and subcontractor works.
  • Providing executive oversight of project execution, including programme, budget, cash flow, HSE, quality and resource requirements.
  • Managing project risks, deviations, change orders and claims, ensuring appropriate mitigation and commercial outcomes.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensuring successful project commissioning, handover and contractual close-out.
  • Preparing and approving progress reports, cash flow reports and executive dashboards, escalating key risks and mitigation plans to senior management.
  • Supporting continuous improvement across EPC project delivery processes.

What you bring to the role

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.

5–10 years of experience in EPC project management or project directorship.

  • Proven track record delivering utility-scale Solar PV projects , ideally across multi-MW projects.
  • Strong experience in tendering, contract negotiation and EPC execution.
  • Demonstrated responsibility for project budgets, cash flow and profitability.
  • Experience delivering projects in the

UK, Ireland or EU is highly desirable.

  • Experience across

Solar PV and BESS projects .

  • Familiarity with UK and Irish permitting, grid connection and contractual requirements.
  • Experience working with international suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Strong understanding of Solar PV and BESS EPC engineering fundamentals.
  • Strong commercial and contractual knowledge, including payment terms, LDs, warranties, bonds and performance guarantees.
  • Strong cost control, cash flow forecasting, margin and risk management skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Highly proactive, solution-oriented and able to make effective decisions under commercial and time pressure.
  • Advanced MS Office skills; experience with MS Project is required.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Desirable

  • Master's degree or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
  • PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent project management certification.
  • MBA or postgraduate qualification in Project or Business Management.
