  • HSE Site Manager to support our M Renewables Division across the

United Kingdom.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead Health, Safety, and Environmental activities on large-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, ensuring full compliance with UK legislation while promoting a proactive safety culture across all construction sites.

Working closely with the HSE Country Manager, Project Managers, Site Engineers, and subcontractors, you will lead the implementation of HSE management systems, oversee site compliance, conduct inspections and audits, manage incident investigations, and ensure all works are delivered safely and in accordance with company standards, client requirements, and project objectives.

Your role will encompass

  • Lead the implementation of the Construction Phase Plan (CPHSP), Integrated Management System (IMS), and project-specific HSE requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation, CDM 2015, company procedures, and client requirements across all site activities.
  • Review Pre-Construction Information (PCI) and ensure all HSE requirements are effectively implemented throughout the construction phase.
  • Prepare and maintain project Risk Assessments, Environmental Risk Assessments, and HSE documentation.
  • Review and approve subcontractor RAMS, ensuring suitable control measures and Safe Systems of Work are in place.
  • Conduct regular HSE inspections, audits, behavioural safety observations, and compliance reviews.
  • Lead accident, incident, and near-miss investigations, producing detailed reports including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain the Site Environmental and Waste Management Plan.
  • Prepare and maintain site emergency plans, traffic management plans, welfare arrangements, and fire safety procedures.
  • Ensure HSE signage, emergency equipment, welfare facilities, and statutory documentation remain fully compliant.
  • Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, HSE briefings, and promote a positive safety culture across the workforce.
  • Coordinate HSE activities with subcontractors, clients, DNOs, local authorities, landowners, and emergency services where required.
  • Participate in project coordination meetings and provide HSE leadership and technical advice to project teams.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly HSE reports, client reports, inspection records, and compliance documentation.
  • Monitor environmental controls, waste management, fuel storage, and pollution prevention measures throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and mentor site teams to enhance HSE performance.

What you bring to the role

  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (mandatory).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a Health & Safety role within construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities, EPC, or renewable energy projects.
  • Previous experience on Solar PV, BESS, substations, or other energy infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
  • Thorough understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation, including CDM 2015.
  • Experience managing subcontractor HSE performance on live construction sites.
  • Strong knowledge of Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), Safe Systems of Work, and Permit-to-Work systems.
  • Experience conducting HSE inspections, audits, compliance monitoring, and incident investigations.
  • Competent First Aider (3-Day First Aid at Work with Defibrillator).
  • NEBOSH Environmental and/or Fire Certificate (desirable).
  • ISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001 Internal or Lead Auditor qualification (desirable).
  • Risk Assessment qualification (desirable).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites across the UK.
