A well-established UK investment banking platform looking to appoint an Associate / Vice President into its Restructuring Advisory team in London. The platform is recognised for delivering high-quality advice on complex, stressed and distressed situations across the UK mid-market. The team advises corporates, sponsors, lenders and other key stakeholders on liquidity challenges, balance sheet restructurings and formal restructuring processes, working closely with M&A and sector teams to provide integrated strategic solutions.
This is an opportunity to join a growing restructuring practice in a senior execution capacity, with meaningful responsibility across mandate origination, stakeholder management and delivery. The role offers direct exposure to boards, lenders and sponsors in time-critical and often high-pressure environments. The culture is collaborative, rigorous and focused on technical excellence and sound commercial judgement.
Key responsibilities- Support senior leadership in originating and developing restructuring mandates across corporates, sponsors and lender groups
- Act as day-to-day execution lead on stressed and distressed engagements, including liquidity assessments and strategic options reviews
- Lead financial analysis, short-term cash flow modelling and scenario planning
- Advise on covenant breaches, waivers, forbearance agreements and contingency planning
- Manage complex, multi-stakeholder negotiations involving lenders, sponsors, boards and legal advisers
- Oversee preparation of restructuring materials, board presentations and stakeholder communications
- Coordinate with legal counsel, insolvency practitioners and other restructuring specialists on formal processes where required
- Contribute to independent business review-style workstreams and capital structure assessments
- Mentor and develop junior team members, ensuring high standards of analytical output and client delivery
- Collaborate with M&A and sector teams to support accelerated sale processes and other strategic alternatives
- At least 4 to 9 years restructuring advisory experience
- Demonstrated track record of executing stressed and distressed mandates
- Strong understanding of UK restructuring frameworks and processes
- Advanced financial modelling capability, including cash flow forecasting and downside scenario analysis
- Deep knowledge of capital structures, credit documentation and lender dynamics
- Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder situations in time-sensitive environments
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to provide clear, pragmatic advice to senior clients
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong academic background; professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CFA or equivalent are advantageous
