- Project Manager with a strong interest in data
The role involves planning and organising the migration of roughly 180 databases to the new infrastructure. This will entail contacting (in some cases identifying) application owners, arranging downtime, and liaising with the teams to coordinate migrations.
The deadline is for mid – end July because current technology will go end-of-life, so it has to start ASAP.
The existing 7 or 8 SQL deployments will be consolidated to become a smaller number. This project is therefore not just obsolescence management, but also a longer-term cost-saving exercise.
The databases are not ‘huge’. They are departmental level. The applications are a mix of test and prod; some may have no data at all and can simply be deleted. Our team will need to liaise with the application owner, and they will retain responsibility for ensuring they are ready for the data move.
