As a QA Automation Engineer in Methods' multidisciplinary team, you design, develop, and maintain automated tests for complex digital services using Java. You will verify APIs, user journeys, and service integrations, providing reliable feedback and evidence to support release decisions. Collaborating with developers, DevOps, and product owners, you own automation quality and continuously improve test reliability, coverage, and maintainability. Responsibilities
- Design and maintain automated API, integration, and end-to-end tests using Java and frameworks (Serenity BDD, Cucumber, Selenium WebDriver, REST Assured)
- Contribute to reusable test components and maintain automation frameworks through code reviews
- Define testable acceptance criteria with stakeholders and craft positive/negative/boundary scenarios
- Balance test level with risk, coverage, and maintenance effort
- Integrate tests into Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and provide rapid feedback
- Test asynchronous workflows and service interactions, including event processing and retries
- Verify business outcomes via APIs, databases, and user journeys; ensure data consistency
- Create repeatable test data with environment awareness and parallel execution
- Investigate failures using logs, responses, queries, and pipeline results; differentiate defects
- Improve test reliability by addressing flaky tests and gaps in regression coverage
- Turn production defects into repeatable automated regression scenarios
- Perform targeted exploratory testing and contribute to performance, accessibility, security, and operational readiness testing
- Maintain test coverage and release evidence in Jira/Zephyr for traceability
- Raise and triage defects; communicate testing progress and risks to stakeholders
Key requirements
- Strong hands-on Java programming with automated test code
- Experience with Serenity BDD, Cucumber/Gherkin, Selenium WebDriver, REST Assured; with JUnit and AssertJ
- Understanding of HTTP/REST APIs, JSON, authentication, validation, error handling
- Experience testing distributed or microservice architectures and asynchronous processing
- Ability to verify end-to-end workflows and downstream outcomes; SQL proficiency for test data
- Experience with Maven, Git, pull requests, and automated build pipelines
- Experience integrating tests in Azure DevOps YAML pipelines or similar CI/CD
- Understanding of test isolation, parallel execution, and flaky tests
- Experience in Agile teams, Three Amigos, and BDD practices
- Defect management in Jira/Zephyr or similar tools
- Eligibility for security clearance (SC)
