About Methods:
Methods is a Β£100M+ IT Services Consultancy who has partnered with a range of central government departments and agencies to transform the way the public sector operates in the UK. Established over 30 years ago and UK-based, we apply our skills in transformation, delivery, and collaboration from across the Methods Group, to create end-to-end business and technical solutions that are people-centred, safe, and designed for the future. Our human touch sets us apart from other consultancies, system integrators and software houses - with people, technology, and data at the heart of who we are, we believe in creating value and sustainability through everything we do for our clients, staff, communities, and the planet. We support our clients in the success of their projects while working collaboratively to share skill sets and solve problems. At Methods we have fun while working hard; we are not afraid of making mistakes and learning from them. Predominantly focused on the public-sector, Methods is now building a significant private sector client portfolio. Methods was acquired by the Alten Group in early 2022. Alten is a global engineering firm with approximately 57,000 employees specialising in engineering and IT services.
Role overview
As a Digital Transformation Lead, you will play a senior role in shaping, delivering, and assuring complex digital transformation programmes for public sector clients. You will bring deep expertise from product management, delivery leadership, or user-centred design, applying it pragmatically to help organisations deliver better outcomes. This is a delivery-led role, combining hands-on leadership on complex engagements with broader responsibility for capability building, assurance, and practice growth within the consultancy.
Requirements
Key responsibilities
- Lead or assure complex digital transformation programmes, ensuring delivery against objectives, timelines, and quality standards.
- Provide independent assurance on digital projects, identifying delivery risks and supporting corrective action.
- Work effectively with senior client stakeholders to navigate ambiguity, complexity, and organisational change.
- Ensure all work aligns with Government Service Standards, the Service Manual, and relevant public sector frameworks.
Transformation leadership
- Apply your specialist background (product, delivery, or UCD) to shape end-to-end transformation approaches, not just individual phases or artefacts.
- Support clients in moving towards modern, multidisciplinary, user-centred ways of working.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients on digital delivery, strategy and delivery approaches.
Capability building & practice contribution
- Contribute to the growth and development of consultants, through coaching, mentoring, and informal leadership.
- Support training and upskilling initiatives across the Digital team, sharing practical knowledge and lessons learned.
- Play an active role in communities of practice, helping to mature standards, ways of working, and quality across teams.
- Support recruitment activities, specifically technical based interviews for permanent employees and contractors.
Sales & pre-sales support
- Act as a go-to practitioner for sales and pre-sales activity in your area of expertise.
- Contribute to bids, proposals, and discovery work, shaping credible delivery approaches and resourcing models.
- Support client conversations by bringing practical, delivery-informed insight rather than theoretical models.
