Requirements Security Clearance: BPSS (Required) / SC (Preferable)
Overview We are looking for a Senior .NET Developer with a deep mastery of the Microsoft Azure ecosystem to lead the delivery of critical digital services for the public sector. This isnβt just about writing code; itβs about shaping the technical direction of high-impact programmes that serve millions of citizens.
As a Senior member of the team, you will act as a bridge between complex architectural requirements and high-quality execution, ensuring that our solutions are secure, scalable, and aligned with Government Design Service (GDS) standards.
Key Responsibilities- Technical Leadership: Lead the design, evolution, and maintenance of robust applications using .NET 8/Core and C#, setting the gold standard for code quality within the team.
- Architectural Oversight: Drive the implementation of cloud-native architectures on Azure, making high-level decisions on service selection (Functions, Service Bus, CosmosDB, etc.) to ensure cost-effectiveness and performance.
- Security & Compliance: Take ownership of secure coding practices. You will ensure all solutions meet rigorous government security classifications and accessibility standards (WCAG).
- Mentorship: Act as a technical mentor to mid-level and junior developers, conducting code reviews and fostering a culture of continuous learning and engineering excellence.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with Product Owners, Delivery Managers, and Architects to translate complex policy requirements into technical roadmaps.
- DevOps Culture: Champion a "you build it, you run it" mindset by refining CI/CD pipelines and improving automated testing strategies.
- Expert .NET Mastery: Extensive experience with C# and .NET Core/6+, including deep knowledge of dependency injection, middleware, and asynchronous programming.
- Azure Expert: Proven track record of architecting and deploying complex solutions using Azure App Services, Logic Apps, Key Vault, and Azure SQL.
- Modern Patterns: Expert knowledge of Microservices, Event-Driven Architecture, and RESTful API design.
- Data Integrity: Strong experience with both SQL Server and NoSQL environments, including performance tuning and data modeling.
- Public Sector Fluency: Direct experience working within GDS frameworks or similarly regulated environments (e.g., Health, Defense, or Finance).
- Engineering Rigor: Experience leading CI/CD transformations using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, emphasizing Infrastructure as Code (Bicep/Terraform).
- Containerization: Hands-on experience with AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service) or Docker for orchestrating complex deployments.
- Frontend Savvy: Experience with modern frameworks like Angular or React to support full-stack initiatives.
- Certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Developer Associate.
- Active SC Clearance: While BPSS is required, an existing SC clearance is a significant advantage.
What We Look For in a Senior: We need more than a coder; we need a problem solver who is comfortable with ambiguity. You should be able to explain the "why" behind a technical choice to a non-technical stakeholder and be willing to challenge the status quo to deliver better outcomes for the public.
