St Albans (Hybrid) Up to £92,500 + Bonus + Shares

Method Resourcing have partnered with a rapidly scaling, PE-backed international technology business operating in highly critical, high-availability sectors. Following significant growth and multiple acquisitions, the business is entering a major modernisation phase - including the migration of four data centres into Microsoft Azure and the evolution of its DevOps and reliability operating model.

This is a newly created Head of SRE role with a strong DevOps focus.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Engineering Director, you will lead a team of 6 (3 DevOps, 3 QA) and take ownership of platform reliability, cloud infrastructure strategy, and automation maturity across the organisation. Key areas of focus include:

  • Leading large-scale migration from on-premise data centres to Azure
  • Elevating Infrastructure-as-Code standards and governance
  • Strengthening CI/CD pipelines and reducing manual deployment overhead
  • Ensuring platforms are scalable, resilient, and ready for mass usage
  • Embedding observability and proactive reliability practices
  • Integrating QA effectively into the DevOps life cycle

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both strategic direction and technical depth.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong Azure cloud engineering background
  • Experience leading DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering functions
  • Proven track record in infrastructure modernisation and automation
  • Deep understanding of Infrastructure as Code (eg Terraform, Bicep, ARM)
  • Experience supporting high-availability production systems
  • Ability to manage and develop engineering teams
  • Appreciation of modern QA automation and non-functional testing practices

You do not need to be a career QA specialist - but you should understand how quality, automation, and reliability intersect within modern engineering environments.
