Full time, Permanent role
Hybrid (2/3 days a week, London)
Competitive Salary (+Bonus and Benefits)
About the role
This is a delivery‑focused, technical leadership role for someone who understands payments technology at depth and takes real ownership of complex change. You will be responsible for delivering and modernising key payments platforms, working closely with architects, engineers, operations, and business stakeholders to land large‑scale technology change within a regulated banking environment. This role is not an architect position and not a product‑only role. We are looking for a genuine technologist who delivers. Someone who is comfortable working at a detailed technical level and able to openly discuss APIs, integrations, platform behaviour, and non‑functional requirements with development teams.
Key responsibilities
- Own the end‑to‑end delivery of multi‑year payments transformation initiatives
- Lead delivery across core UK payments domains, including:
- Cards (issuing, processing, authorisation flows, scheme integration, vendor platforms)
- Faster Payments
- CHAPS
- ISO 20022 messaging and migration impacts
- Payments APIs and platform integrations
What we’re looking for
- Proven background delivering complex technology change in regulated environments
- Strong payments domain expertise (cards, Faster Payments, CHAPS, ISO 20022)
- A solid technical foundation, ideally with engineering or hands‑on technical experience
- Experience delivering large‑scale, dependency‑heavy programmes end‑to‑end
- Comfortable engaging deeply with architects and developers on technical design and implementation
- Experience leading teams directly (not solely coordinating virtual or third‑party teams)
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
This role is NOT suitable for:
- Architect‑only profiles seeking a move into delivery
- Candidates from pure product or strategy‑only backgrounds
- Individuals without strong payments or technical experience
Why join
- Lead high‑impact payments modernisation in a respected private banking environment
- Real ownership and influence over platform direction and delivery
- Work closely with senior stakeholders, architects, and engineers
- Be part of a long‑term transformation journey with clear purpose and visibility
If this sounds like something that aligns with your experience and you would enjoy then please apply directly for immediate consideration.
