METERology is looking for an experienced and practical Electrician / Meter Installation & Commissioning Engineer to join our team. We design, install and support commercial energy metering and monitoring systems for organisations across the UK, helping our customers understand exactly how their buildings are using power & energy.

This is a varied, hands-on role combining electrical installation, metering, communications and commissioning. You'll work across a wide range of buildings and sites, installing new meters, connecting existing equipment and making sure that reliable energy data gets from the meter through to our METERology and PowerHealth monitoring platforms.

What you'll be doing:

  • Installing electricity meters and associated metering equipment, such as current transformers (CTs), communications equipment and associated wiring
  • Connecting and commissioning existing and new meters
  • Working with Modbus, M-Bus, Ethernet and other metering communication systems
  • Testing and verifying meter installations
  • Fault-finding existing metering and communications systems
  • Carrying out site surveys and identifying practical installation requirements
  • Working from electrical drawings and schematics
  • Liaising with customers, facilities teams and other contractors on site
  • Recording installation and commissioning information accurately
  • Supporting the handover of completed systems into the METERology monitoring platform
  • Travelling to customer sites throughout the UK when required

What we're looking for:

  • You'll ideally be a qualified electrician with good practical electrical knowledge and experience of working safely within commercial or industrial buildings.
  • Experience of energy metering, controls, data communications or commissioning would be particularly useful, although specific training on our metering systems and METERology & PowerHealth platforms will be provided.
  • We're particularly interested in someone who:
    • Takes pride in doing a job properly
    • Is comfortable fault-finding and solving problems on site
    • Can learn from every installation and use that experience to improve the next one
    • Can work independently and use their initiative
    • Communicates well with clients and colleagues
    • Is organised and produces good-quality installation records
    • Is interested in developing their knowledge of metering, energy management and building technology
    • Holds a full UK driving licence

Why join METERology?

We're deliberately not a large corporate organisation. You'll work directly with an experienced engineering team and have the opportunity to see projects through from survey and installation to commissioning, data validation and successful handover. We want people to benefit when the company does well, and we also recognise that work-life balance matters.

Benefits include:

  • Company works van provided
  • Regular Friday afternoons off
  • Annual company profit-share scheme
  • Competitive salary
  • Company pension
  • Training and development in specialist metering and communications technologies
  • Varied work across interesting commercial, university and public-sector estates
  • The opportunity to develop into a specialist metering and commissioning engineer
  • A supportive small-company environment where your contribution makes a visible difference
