Contract: Permanent, full time | Reports to National Pumps Operations Manager.

Metcor Pumps part of Metcor Group is looking for an Operations Manager to join the team. At Metcor Pumps, you’ll lead a vital function that keeps our customers’ jobs moving safely, efficiently and successfully.

Working closely with engineers, subcontractors, suppliers and colleagues, you’ll help us deliver an excellent service while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and environmental performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support our Operations team, including engineers, direct reports and the Procurement Lead.
- Keep jobs and engineers effectively planned and scheduled, adapting quickly when priorities change and coordinating the monthly callout rota.
- Make sure teams have the right documentation, equipment and materials to deliver for customers on time.
- Use operational KPIs to celebrate success and identify opportunities to improve productivity, margin, work in progress, reactive SLAs, HS&E, people measures and customer service.
- Drive strong commercial performance while improving job profitability, efficiency and operational processes.
- Create a safe, responsible and quality-focused working environment for engineers, warehouse colleagues, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Help your team thrive through regular one-to-ones, appraisals, coaching, development, succession planning and a focus on retention.
- Keep the in house system records and job reports accurate, ensure recommendations are communicated clearly, and support prompt job closure.
- Build positive relationships with customers and work closely with Sales, Estimating, Procurement, PPM, Reactive and Remedial teams.
- Keep the General Manager and Management Team informed, resolve operational challenges and share best practice across the company.
About You
- More than five years’ experience leading remote engineering maintenance and installation teams.
- A strong understanding of drainage and wastewater operations, especially pumps and associated plant and equipment.
- A supportive, positive approach to people leadership, performance management and engineer development.
- A track record of improving commercial results, processes and customer-focused operational performance.
- Experience planning and scheduling planned preventive maintenance, reactive work and projects.
- Confident problem-solving and IT skills, including Microsoft applications and job or field-management systems.
