I am currently assisting an international client with a complex post-deal technology integration programme. As part of this programme of work, they are looking for a senior core backend and infrastructure lead to take ownership of the infrastructure and platform workstream from day one.
Overview
You will be the single point of accountability for core backend platforms, infrastructure and integration across two legacy estates. This includes defining the target architecture, leading infrastructure consolidation, driving migration planning, and ensuring resilience, security and operational stability throughout the integration.
You will sit alongside the Programme Director and Technology Integration Lead, run a small technical delivery team, and coordinate across engineering, architecture, security, operations and third-party providers. This is a workstream leadership role, not a hands-on engineering position. You need to be able to set technical direction, make architectural decisions, challenge senior stakeholders, and ensure delivery in a high-pressure, regulated environment.
Required experience
- Proven track record leading infrastructure, backend or platform workstreams on post-merger integration, carve-outs or large-scale transformation programmes
- Strong understanding of core backend systems, infrastructure, cloud/hybrid environments and enterprise integration patterns
- Experience defining and delivering target state architecture across complex legacy estates
- Comfortable leading technical teams while maintaining a clear view of business and programme outcomes
- Strong grounding in operational resilience, security and infrastructure governance in regulated environments
- Able to engage credibly with senior executives while also steering engineers and technical specialists
- Financial services experience is beneficial but not essential if integration delivery experience is strong
