Mechanical Fitter / Toolmaker

Days only, Monday - Friday

Metalis is currently working with a manufacturing company based in Wakefield who are recruiting an experienced Mechanical Fitter / Toolmaker to join the team.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture, maintain and repair tooling, dies, jigs and fixtures.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Carry out fault finding, repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Operate workshop machinery including CNC, milling, grinding and drilling equipment.
  • Ensure tooling meets quality and production requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement and minimise production downtime.

Requirements

  • Previous toolmaking or mechanical assembly experience.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills.
  • Knowledge of machining, tooling and manufacturing processes.
