Metalis are working with a well-established engineering and manufacturing business in Wakefield who are looking to add an experienced CNC Machinist to their Machining team.
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist with experience operating CNC and manual machines within a heavy engineering environment. Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, you will be responsible for producing high-quality components in line with manufacturing routes, engineering drawings, and quality standards. Key Responsibilities
- Operate CNC Milling and manual machines safely and efficiently.
- Ensure machining operations are completed in line with approved manufacturing routes and quality standards.
- Interpret engineering drawings and geometrical tolerances accurately.
- Use manual measuring equipment to inspect and verify component quality.
- Carry out routine machine checks and ensure equipment is maintained and lubricated appropriately.
- Report defective or out-of-calibration measuring equipment.
- Use lifting and transportation equipment safely and correctly.
Who Would Be Suitable
- Apprentice-trained Mechanical Engineer.
- Previous experience operating CNC Milling machines within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and geometrical tolerances.
- Knowledge of CNC programming.
- Ability to use manual measuring equipment confidently.
Ideal Background
- Experience operating horizontal machining centres with Fanuc controls.
- Experience working with Heidenhain controls.
- Background within heavy engineering manufacturing.
- Time-served machinist with CNC programming knowledge.
- Experience producing large or complex engineered components.
What's on Offer
- £17-£18ph
- 8am to 4.30pm, Monday to Thursday, with half an hour lunch break
- 8am to 1pm, Friday
