Metalis are working with a well-established engineering and manufacturing business in Wakefield who are looking to add an experienced CNC Machinist to their Machining team.

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist with experience operating CNC and manual machines within a heavy engineering environment. Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, you will be responsible for producing high-quality components in line with manufacturing routes, engineering drawings, and quality standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC Milling and manual machines safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure machining operations are completed in line with approved manufacturing routes and quality standards.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and geometrical tolerances accurately.
  • Use manual measuring equipment to inspect and verify component quality.
  • Carry out routine machine checks and ensure equipment is maintained and lubricated appropriately.
  • Report defective or out-of-calibration measuring equipment.
  • Use lifting and transportation equipment safely and correctly.

Who Would Be Suitable

  • Apprentice-trained Mechanical Engineer.
  • Previous experience operating CNC Milling machines within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and geometrical tolerances.
  • Knowledge of CNC programming.
  • Ability to use manual measuring equipment confidently.

Ideal Background

  • Experience operating horizontal machining centres with Fanuc controls.
  • Experience working with Heidenhain controls.
  • Background within heavy engineering manufacturing.
  • Time-served machinist with CNC programming knowledge.
  • Experience producing large or complex engineered components.

  • 8am to 4.30pm, Monday to Thursday, with half an hour lunch break
