The predicted salary is between 13 - 16 £ per hour.

Metalis are working with a manufacturing company based in Rotherham who are looking for an experienced Machinist to join the team. Your primary responsibility will be centre lathe turning, focusing mainly on straight bar turning to wide tolerances, predominantly on nickel alloys (though other materials are also machined). As a subcontract environment, productivity, accuracy, and reliability are key.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate machine tools including heavy-duty Centre Lathes, Borers, Mills, and Bandsaws
  • Carry out centre lathe turning to specified tolerances
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
  • Select appropriate tooling and machining methods to meet job specifications
  • Measure and inspect components to ensure accuracy and quality
  • Perform minor machine maintenance and adjustments to keep equipment running efficiently
  • Work collaboratively within a team committed to quality, safety, and continuous improvement
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties within your capability

Shifts & Salary:

  • Days initially then moving to afternoons
  • £16.00ph - £18.00ph
  • 8am - 4pm, Monday - Friday (Days)
  • 2pm - 10pm Monday - Friday (Afternoons)
  • Overtime Available

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous Machining Experience
  • Ability to read technical drawings and use precision measuring tools
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Desire to produce quality work with pride
