Metalis are currently supporting a well established company in Chesterfield who are looking for a Mechanical Fitter to join the team! This is a hands-on position suited to someone with a strong mechanical background, ideally with experience in mechanical fitting, fabrication, or general engineering. You will be working in a supportive, skilled team assembling bespoke machinery using a range of hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment.
Key Responsibilities:- Fitting components and structures to engineering drawings and specifications
- Working with hydraulics and pneumatics
- Using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments accurately
- Ensuring proper alignment, fit, and finish of all fitted parts
- Supporting fabrication and build processes as required
- Performing quality checks to ensure assemblies meet required standards
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment, following all health & safety procedures
- Apprentice-trained or experienced in mechanical fitting
- Confident in reading and interpreting technical drawings
- Skilled in using hand/power tools and various measuring equipment
- Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude
- Competitive hourly rate (up to £18 p/h depending on experience)
- Days Monday to Friday - early Friday finish
- Weekly pay for first 12 weeks
