About the Role
Metal Solutions is seeking a senior leader to drive commercial performance, operational effectiveness, and customer experience within a manufacturing-led business. Working closely with the Directors and Senior Leadership Team, the role will provide leadership across key commercial and operational processes, supporting the efficient, profitable delivery of work from enquiry through to completion and ongoing customer satisfaction, in line with the company's growth ambitions. This is a senior, influential role with significant exposure to the wider business and clear scope to broaden responsibility over time as the company continues to evolve.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior leadership across manufacturing operations, setting clear direction and supporting effective coordination across teams.
- Provide commercial and operational leadership across the end-to-end order lifecycle, supporting margin control and efficient use of materials.
- Collaborate with Directors and the Senior Leadership Team on the ongoing development of operational processes and future technology adoption.
- Take accountability for commercial and operational performance metrics, including margins, productivity, waste reduction, and on-time delivery.
- Monitor and report on key commercial and operational performance indicators across efficiency, quality, and overall business performance.
- Act as a senior escalation point for key customers, ensuring issues are managed professionally and relationships are maintained.
What We’re Looking For
- Senior experience in commercial and operational leadership, with strong exposure to estimating, within a manufacturing or construction environment.
- Strong technical understanding, with the ability to interpret and challenge drawings, specifications, and production information.
- A proven track record of delivering strong efficiency, cost control, and commercial outcomes while maintaining high customer satisfaction.
- Experience operating in an environment where estimating and commercial decision-making are closely linked to manufacturing outcomes.
- A confident, credible leader capable of working across functions and developing high-performing teams.
- Excellent organisational, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Experience within metal or specialist manufacturing, including roofing and cladding systems; experience with fully supported systems is an advantage but not essential.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar systems, and exposure to ERP/MRP or production planning tools.
- Experience contributing to the development or evolution of operational processes or systems within a manufacturing business.
- Understanding of commercial procurement principles; formal qualifications such as CIPS are beneficial but not essential.
