Metador is a growing manufacturing business with ambitious plans, and we are looking for an experienced
Production Manager to take ownership of our full end-to-end production operation.
This is a significant leadership opportunity for someone who wants more than a maintenance role.
You will be joining a business that is scaling, improving and professionalising its operational capability - and you will have real influence over how production is structured, managed and improved.
Based at our integrated Middlesbrough manufacturing site, you will lead the production teams responsible for CNC, fabrication, internal logistics, powder coating and final assembly, with responsibility for over 70 production colleagues across the operation.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role for a Production Manager who can bring structure, accountability, pace and strong leadership to a busy manufacturing environment.
What you’ll be doing
As Production Manager, you will
- Lead multiple production departments across CNC, fabrication, internal logistics, powder coating and final assembly.
- Manage production delivery in line with planning schedules and business priorities.
- Drive OTIF performance, output against plan, labour efficiency and productivity.
- Identify and remove bottlenecks across the manufacturing process.
- Build a strong culture of accountability, teamwork, reliability and performance.
- Improve quality performance by reducing rework, scrap, defects and customer-reported issues.
- Maintain a safety-first culture and ensure safe systems of work are followed across production.
- Use production data, KPIs and lean manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvement.
- Work closely with Planning, Purchasing, Stores and Customer Service to ensure production is aligned, materials are available, and customer issues are resolved effectively.
- Provide clear reporting and performance updates to the Head of Operations.
- What we’re looking for
We are looking for someone with strong production leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
You might already be a Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Operations Manager or Senior Production Leader looking for a role with genuine ownership and influence.
You will need
- Proven experience in sheet metal, steel fabrication or a similar manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience leading multi-department production teams.
- Experience managing CNC-based production operations.
- A good understanding of lean manufacturing, process improvement and waste reduction.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to use production data and KPIs to improve performance.
- Confidence communicating with people at all levels of the business.
- Knowledge of finishing processes, such as powder coating, would be advantageous.
- The kind of person who will succeed here
This role needs someone who is visible, credible and hands-on.
You will be comfortable being on the shop floor, working with Team Leaders, challenging poor performance, solving problems and bringing structure to a fast-moving production environment.
You will be
- Hands-on and highly accountable.
- A strong leader with presence and credibility.
- Structured, process-driven and organised.
- Calm under pressure and able to make good decisions in a busy environment.
- Solution-focused with strong attention to detail.
- Committed to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
Why join Metador?
This is a brilliant opportunity to join a growing business where production performance is central to our next stage of development.
You will not be coming into a role where everything is already done for you.
This is an opportunity to make a real operational difference - building stronger teams, improving processes, raising standards and helping shape how production supports the wider business as we continue to grow.
If you enjoy ownership, accountability and the chance to leave things better than you found them, this is the role for you.
