This role bridges injury rehabilitation and physical performance. We are looking for a licensed Physiotherapist with a genuine passion for movement, exercise therapy, flexibility, and functional performance. You will work with patients across our metabolic health, diabetes, and weight management cohorts, combining clinical assessment with gym-based exercise delivery within a specialist private healthcare environment.

As Physiotherapist and Personal Trainer, you will conduct structured MSK and movement assessments, deliver private physiotherapy sessions, and lead bespoke exercise programming in our clinic gym. You will work closely with GPs, clinicians, exercise coaches, dietitians, and operations teams to keep patient progress on track, and you will build long-term therapeutic relationships with patients that support sustained health and physical improvement.

Core Responsibilities

  • Clinical Assessments and Programme Design: Conduct thorough musculoskeletal (MSK) assessments, movement screenings, and biomechanical analyses to identify injury risks, postural issues, and physical deficits. Assess movement patterns, joint mobility, muscular balance, flexibility, and functional capacity across patient cohorts including diabetes, metabolic health, and weight management. Design and implement individualised movement and exercise plans focused on strength, mobility, flexibility, and functional performance. Integrate injury prevention, movement optimisation, and lifestyle-compatible physical activity into every programme. Document all findings and recommendations in the clinic's EMR system in line with HCPC Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics. Escalate any findings that fall outside your scope of practice.
  • Private Physiotherapy Services: Deliver physiotherapy sessions across self-pay and privately funded streams, meeting all relevant coding, documentation, and compliance standards. Work closely with clinic coordinators and operations to ensure smooth patient pathways.
  • Exercise and Gym-Based Sessions: Deliver structured exercise sessions using the clinic's gym facilities, including sessions linked to physiotherapy care plans and performance, mobility, and flexibility-focused work. Ensure all sessions are safe, goal-oriented, and aligned with each patient's clinical and lifestyle needs. Adapt exercise intensity and programming based on patient progress, clinical status, and engagement. Instruct patients on proper lifting mechanics, exercise technique, and lifestyle to support long-term physical wellbeing.
  • Patient Engagement and Service Development: Educate patients on the value of continued movement-based care beyond initial funded sessions. Cross-refer patients to relevant clinic services including exercise coaching, lifestyle medicine, metabolic programmes, and allied health services. Maintain a professional, ethical, and patient-centred approach to all engagement and care discussions, in line with HCPC professional standards.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with GPs, physicians, exercise coaches, lifestyle coaches, dietitians, and operations teams to support integrated care pathways. Contribute to case discussions and support the optimisation of patient outcomes and long-term retention. Follow and support the clinic's infection prevention and control procedures in accordance with CQC guidelines, to ensure the safety of all patients and staff.

Key Requirements and Skills

  • Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree (BSc/MSc) in Physiotherapy from a UK-accredited institution. Current and valid registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Physiotherapist. CIMSPA-endorsed Level 3 Personal Training qualification or equivalent recognised fitness credential. Additional Strength and Conditioning certification (e.g. UKSCA accreditation) is desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of post-registration clinical experience as a practising Physiotherapist. Proven track record in a clinical, gym, or elite sports environment blending hands-on rehabilitation with personal training or Strength and Conditioning. Exposure to wellness, lifestyle medicine, or performance-focused clinical settings is an advantage.
  • Clinical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of exercise therapy, movement assessment, mobility and flexibility training, and evidence-based rehabilitation practice. Familiarity with NICE guidelines relevant to MSK physiotherapy, diabetes, and metabolic health. Confidence working in a gym or exercise-based clinical environment.
  • Communication: Excellent motivational, verbal, and written communication skills. High emotional intelligence and the ability to build long-term therapeutic relationships with patients. Ability to explain clinical findings and exercise programmes clearly to patients with varying levels of health literacy.
  • Professionalism and Confidentiality: High level of discretion in handling patient information, in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Strong clinical documentation and organisational abilities, with attention to CQC and HCPC standards. Commercial awareness and confidence discussing care plans, follow-on services, and self-pay options.

Regulatory and Compliance Context

This role operates within the regulatory framework of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Care Quality Commission (CQC). All clinical staff are required to maintain their professional registration, adhere to HCPC Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics, and support the clinic's commitment to CQC Fundamental Standards. This role is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check prior to appointment.

Key Competencies

  • Clinical Excellence: Delivers safe, evidence-based care. Maintains HCPC registration and up-to-date CPD.
  • Patient Focus: Puts the patient first in every interaction. Adapts approach to individual clinical and lifestyle needs.
  • Communication: Clear, warm, and professional across all channels. Explains complex clinical concepts simply.
  • Organisation: Manages competing clinical and administrative demands calmly. Nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Collaboration: Works effectively across the multidisciplinary team. Shares information and supports colleagues proactively.
