The Edge & Network Services (ENS) team at Meta is looking for individuals who are ready to tackle the challenges and opportunities we face as we contribute to our mission of connecting the world. This global team offers a unique career opportunity to work alongside engineers solving complex problems using cutting-edge network infrastructure technologies. For this role, we are looking for a Network Infrastructure Design Engineer with demonstrated experience developing and delivering network infrastructure solutions at scale in globally distributed Points of Presence (POPs). As a member of the ENS Foundation Design team, you will support the capacity expansion of Meta's global Edge/Backbone network and compute presence. This role owns delivery across Meta's EMEA co-location estate, while partnering with an APAC-based counterpart to support projects in that region and provide coverage across the combined portfolio. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering, planning, and deployment teams to develop space, power, cooling, and connectivity infrastructure design requirements, and drive the execution of these needs within Meta's global colocation estate, including POPs, Cable Landing Stations, and backbone midpoint sites.

Designs, reviews, and optimizes ICT physical infrastructure, including structured cabling systems, floor/rack layouts, network hardware placement, and integrated communications systems for large-scale data centre and network deployments

Develops and enforces Meta ICT design standards and best practices, reconciling them against varying regional codes and industry standards (e.g., ISO/IEC 11801, EN 50173, EN 50600, TIA/EIA, BICSI)

Develops optimized layouts of edge/backbone midpoint site floor plans, allocating space assigned to network functions, optical, backbone, IP, and compute

Delivers on-time engineering design packages related to site infrastructure scope for sourcing and capacity planning teams

Manages space, power, cooling, structured cabling, and other inside plant infrastructure delivery requirements across owned and colocation facilities throughout EMEA, and supports APAC delivery in partnership with the regional counterpart

Engages in system-level facility sizing of utilities, switchgear, UPS/DC power plant, PDUs, mechanical cooling, and low-voltage power distribution

Proactively engages with EMEA colocation providers to evaluate their facilities and recommend corrective actions to meet Meta's standard design requirements, extending to APAC providers as needed

Partners with the APAC-based peers to align design approaches, share regional learnings, maintain standards consistency across the global estate, and provide mutual project coverage

Collaborates with internal and external design and planning engineers to execute cage and data centre network/compute infrastructure build-outs

Leads weekly syncs with external co-location vendors, providing technical support and progress reporting on cage and suite build-outs and acceptance testing

Leads site acceptance activities with colocation providers in accordance with facility acceptance standards, accounting for regional variation in acceptance testing conventions and MSA structures

Manages and tracks project timelines and risks, navigating projects to on-time completion

Prioritizes and coordinates concurrent projects based on impact and deadlines, driving execution through vendors at scale

Collaborates with Meta business and technical teams to provide input on space/power delivery, associated deployment projects, and other major initiatives affecting capacity delivery

Updates capacity tracking systems and data records in support of edge/backbone midpoint cage and suite build-outs

Coordinates Owner Furnished/Contractor Installed equipment delivery from Meta's inventory to colocation facilities, accounting for regional import, customs, and logistics constraints

Proactively aligns with network planning and investment teams on the roadmap and material forecasting needs for on-time project delivery

This role involves regular collaboration with teams and vendors across multiple time zones, and approximately 20–30% travel depending on project demand, primarily within EMEA with periodic long-haul travel

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience

6+ years of experience designing and constructing large-scale data centres or similar mission-critical infrastructure, including specifying suite-level space, power, cooling, and structured cabling connectivity requirements for network and compute hardware

Demonstrated experience in project management, including planning, execution, and delivery of complex technical projects

Working knowledge of regional data centre electrical and cooling configurations across multiple jurisdictions, including IEC, EN 50600, and BS 7671/IET or regional equivalents; AC/DC power concepts; and power redundancy topologies

Working knowledge of interpreting and analyzing electrical/mechanical single-line diagrams

Demonstrated experience with field-based work in POPs, data centres, carrier-neutral facilities, or telecom exchanges

Experience in communicating with and directing tasks for carriers and co-location vendors

Working knowledge of internet networking technologies (routing and switching concepts), optical transport technologies (DWDM and optical transceivers), and network redundancy and failover concepts

Working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, BIM 360, Procore, or similar tools

Demonstrated ability to define scope and drive progress on projects with evolving requirements, including planning, prioritization, and communication across global teams and time zones

Proven ability to analyze technical situations, troubleshoot issues, and solve problems with limited supervision

Familiarity with Linux-based systems and experience with scripting and automation (Bash, Python, Perl)

Demonstrated understanding of engineering principles related to infrastructure architecture, including space layout, air flow, and cooling systems

Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)

Experience with optical network design, installation, and maintenance for service providers or global enterprise networks

Experience with Cable Landing Stations and subsea infrastructure projects

Experience delivering infrastructure projects across multiple regulatory regimes, translating a global design standard into region-compliant implementations

Experience with ICT design and construction administration for hyperscale data centres and global backbone network capacity enablement processes

A thorough knowledge of optical theory, transport technologies, and the operation of optical transport systems and IP backbone network technologies

Experience in adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy review)

An advanced degree in an engineering discipline

General knowledge of data centre, colocation, and isolated hut environments, including engineering principles related to power and infrastructure

Professional engineering registration (e.g., CEng via the Engineering Council, P.E., or regional equivalent)

Data centre design or structured cabling design certifications (e.g., BICSI RCDD)

Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)

Thorough knowledge of fiber optic components, structured cabling, pathways, and interconnect products, technologies, and design concepts

Familiarity with construction health and safety regulatory frameworks (e.g., CDM 2015 in the UK) and regional site safety requirements

Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize or redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)

Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
