Meta is looking for an experienced Communications Manager to join its Policy Communications team in EMEA. You will work across a range of business critical topic areas, handling complex crises and issues, coordinating closely across teams to build and execute advocacy campaigns that advance our policy goals and/or mitigate risks through earned and owned media. You will have extensive experience developing and executing high-profile communication plans tailored to policy audiences, using social-first and earned media tactics to achieve company goals.
You will be skilled at day-to-day media relations with senior reporters, and handling fast-moving crises and issues. You will be experienced at thinking through complicated reputational challenges—short and long term—and operating and thinking internationally. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, a good balance of strategic thinking and tactical execution, and the ability to juggle multiple simultaneous projects—ruthlessly prioritising across high-profile and fast-moving workstreams.
Responsibilities- Craft and execute communication plans and programs across a range of policy topics based on reputational needs and company priorities.
- Work cross-functionally with a range of teams—across communications and other disciplines—to manage media opportunities and mitigate crises.
- Create and support advocacy campaigns designed to advance policy goals and the company’s position across the region.
- Manage reactive press issues, working closely with country communication leads and Public Policy teams across EMEA to tackle issues and mitigate risk.
- Provide communications counsel and support for business leaders on high-profile topics.
- Build a meaningful understanding of Meta’s products, policies and approach and distil this work into plain language for media and the general public through a wide range of material like blog posts, social copy, Q&As, briefing materials and talking points.
- 8+ years experience in corporate/policy communications for consumer facing brands, or in relevant Government communications departments.
- Experience in managing high-profile and fast-moving crises and issues, building relationships with media, and working with executives.
- Significant experience in devising and coordinating advocacy campaigns designed to change policy positions via the media.
- Experience working directly with senior reporters and opinion leaders to shape editorial output.
- Experience working with and influencing very experienced stakeholders across legal, public policy, product and marketing.
- Proven project management and decision-making skills.
- Experienced collaborator, well-versed in influencing others, and adept at bringing larger groups along to execute complex cross-team projects.
- Adept at using AI in day-to-day work.
- Proven capability to balance multiple competing priorities, with flexibility to pivot/re-prioritise quickly as needs arise.
- Experience managing agencies and putting in place scalable processes to drive and measure results.
- Established relationships and contacts with Brussels reporters.
- Extensive experience in Policy Communications for a highly scrutinised tech company.
