Meta is seeking an experienced disputes lawyer to join its EMEA Civil Litigation team. You will manage a varied docket of significant, complex civil disputes and advise the business on evolving litigation risks. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team working on a range of high-profile and novel disputes across the EMEA region.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a busy docket of high-stakes litigation matters across the UK and EMEA, with a focus on class actions and multi-jurisdictional claims.
  • Formulate and execute complex litigation strategies for matters pending before national and international courts, particularly regarding ad-tech, privacy, consumer protection and competition.
  • Provide expertly calibrated strategic advice on litigation risk to internal stakeholders across our product, business and public policy teams.
  • Lead the development of factual and expert evidence and prepare company witnesses.
  • Partner and coordinate closely with internal legal specialists, particularly in our regulatory, competition, and data legal teams.
  • Manage outside counsel relationships, including material oversight of litigation costs, budgets, and reporting.
  • Present clear and concise updates to executive and board-level leadership on significant litigation developments and strategic risks.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Meta requires all employed attorneys to have a law degree or equivalent certificate to permit the practice of law and be appropriately licensed and authorized to practice law for the company in their assigned work location.
  • Unless prohibited under local law, an attorney must hold a current practicing certificate (including where required from the relevant authority in the jurisdiction of the assigned work location) or the local law equivalent bar registration or license as may be applicable.
  • Solicitor or barrister qualified to practise in the UK with 8+ years of post‑qualification litigation experience, preferably within a leading law firm or an in‑house technology legal team.
  • Experience of working on complex cross‑border technology disputes including class, mass and/or representative actions, at various appellate levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in operating comfortably within high levels of complexity and ambiguity.
  • Proven experience of successfully managing large‑scale and/or time‑sensitive contentious matters to completion, balancing evolving priorities and a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Significant court experience, ideally across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Demonstrated experience building relationships and influencing across functional boundaries and/or globally.
  • Effective communication skills, with a specific ability to explain complex technologies to courts and non‑legal stakeholders.
  • Fluency in English.
  • An appetite for complex, cutting‑edge litigation, and a keen interest in learning about new technologies and areas of the law.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant experience in privacy and/or competition litigation or related regulatory investigations.
  • Experience working with litigation consulting and economic experts.
  • Prior in‑house experience at a global technology company.
  • Experience working within an AI‑native environment and/or leveraging AI‑supported workflows.
  • Fluency in other European languages.
