Dudley Full-Time On-site

Accounts Receivable Specialist

Location: Dudley, West Midlands

Salary: Circa £30,000 DOE

Job Type: Permanent | Full-time | On-site

About the Role

MET Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist to join an established manufacturing business based in Dudley.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in accounts receivable who has developed a thorough understanding of the full sales ledger process and enjoys taking ownership of their work.

We're looking for someone who understands the accounting behind the transactions, not simply how to process them. You'll need to be confident with reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and understanding how accounts receivable impacts the wider finance function.

The business has recently implemented SAP, so you'll also need to be comfortable working with finance systems, adapting to new processes and resolving the challenges that can arise following a system implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounts receivable and sales ledger activities.
  • Raise and process sales invoices, ensuring accuracy of pricing, VAT and customer information.
  • Allocate customer payments and reconcile customer accounts.
  • Investigate and resolve invoice queries, payment discrepancies and unallocated cash.
  • Monitor outstanding balances and support credit control activities.
  • Prepare aged debtor reports and maintain accurate customer account records.
  • Process credit notes, refunds and account adjustments.
  • Support month-end procedures, including trade debtor reconciliations and revenue cut-off.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with internal controls.
  • Work closely with the wider finance and operational teams to resolve queries.
  • Assist with identifying and resolving transactional issues as the new SAP system continues to bed in.

About You

We're particularly interested in candidates who have gained substantial hands‑on experience within an accounts receivable or sales ledger function and can demonstrate a strong understanding of the full process.

You'll ideally have:

  • Proven experience in an accounts receivable, sales ledger or similar transactional finance role.
  • A sound understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and accounting principles.
  • Strong experience in reconciliations, cash allocation, invoicing and credit control.
  • The ability to investigate discrepancies and resolve problems independently.
  • Experience supporting month-end processes and maintaining accurate ledgers.
  • Confidence using accounting or ERP systems; SAP experience would be advantageous.
  • Good Excel skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • A proactive, inquisitive approach with the confidence to question and investigate when something doesn't look right.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Candidates studying towards AAT, or with equivalent knowledge gained through practical experience, are encouraged to apply.

Experience within manufacturing, FMCG or distribution would be beneficial but is not essential.

What's on Offer?

  • Salary circa £30,000 depending on experience.
  • Permanent, full-time opportunity.
  • An established manufacturing business.
  • A varied role with responsibility across the accounts receivable function.
  • The opportunity to contribute to the development and improvement of financial processes following a new ERP implementation.

Please note:

This is a fully on-site role based in Dudley, West Midlands.

If you're an experienced accounts receivable professional who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems and taking ownership of the sales ledger, we'd love to hear from you.
