We are currently looking to recruit an entry-level Transport Planner to join a busy Coventry-based operation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a career in logistics, with clear progression based on performance and the ability to support and grow an expanding fleet. No prior experience is required, as full training will be provided from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning & Coordination
- Bookings (same-day deliveries)
- Arranging collections with major suppliers and recyclers
- Allocating work to hauliers
- Planning transport schedules based on customer requirements
- Organising and coordinating yellow trucks days
- Communication
- Sending instructions and updates to hauliers via email
- Liaising with hauliers and suppliers to confirm deliveries and collections
- Managing delivery issues, including delays or failed deliveries
- Systems & Administration
- Inputting and managing orders
- Updating systems
- Maintaining and utilising the haulier database
- Updating driver earnings and internal tracking spreadsheets
- Managing and communicating updates on the Drivers to Work spreadsheet
- Monitoring & Problem Solving
- Checking delivery and collection statuses via portals, email queries, and verbal communication
- Identifying alternative collection sources
- Understanding delivery tickets and associated processes
- Managing waiting time processes and ensuring accurate recording
- Completing operational checks at key stages throughout the working day
- Commercial Awareness
- Accurately calculating haulage rates
- Understanding daily operational timescales and planning accordingly
