The role:
We are currently recruiting for a Graduate Finance Assistant for one of our well-established and highly trusted clients in the Bilston area. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate looking to take their first step into a career within finance. The successful candidate will have a strong academic background in Finance, Accounting or Economics, alongside some previous exposure to finance through an internship or placement.
As a Graduate Finance Assistant, you will have the opportunity to build on your academic knowledge, develop practical finance experience and work closely with the wider finance team. Our client is happy to support the successful candidate with further study towards ACCA, ACA or CIMA. This role would suit a bright, driven and ambitious graduate who is looking to build a long-term career within finance and is keen to develop both their technical and commercial understanding.
Your main duties (not limited to):
- Assist with the day-to-day finance and accounting functions of the business.
- Process and maintain accurate financial records and transactions.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
- Complete bank and account reconciliations.
- Support the preparation of financial reports and spreadsheets.
- Use Microsoft Excel to analyze, organize and manage financial data.
- Assist with month-end processes and reporting.
- Investigate and help resolve discrepancies within financial records.
- Maintain accurate and organized finance documentation and records.
- Assist with invoices, payments and expense records.
- Provide general administrative support to the wider finance team.
- Work with other departments where required to obtain or clarify financial information.
- Develop knowledge of the company's finance systems, processes and procedures.
- Work towards a professional qualification such as ACCA, ACA or CIMA, with study support available.
The ideal candidate:
- Recent graduate with a 2:1 or First-Class degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics.
- Degree from a Russell Group or red-brick university.
- Good A-level results.
- Previous finance exposure through an internship or placement.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Bright, driven and ambitious with a genuine interest in developing a career within finance.
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to study towards ACCA, ACA or CIMA.
- Local to Bilston or the wider West Midlands preferred.
- Driving license would be useful.
