MET Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced Production Manager to join an established manufacturing business based in Tamworth. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced production professional ideally from an automotive manufacturing background who enjoys being visible on the shop floor, leading from the front and driving improvements across people, processes, quality and performance.

Working a four-day week, Monday to Thursday, you will take responsibility for day-to-day production activity, leading and developing the team while ensuring production, quality, safety and delivery targets are achieved.

The role:

  • Lead and manage day-to-day production operations and shop-floor teams
  • Ensure production plans are achieved in line with customer requirements
  • Drive performance through effective use of KPIs and production data
  • Develop a strong culture around quality, safety and accountability
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity and working practices
  • Lead Lean and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Carry out root-cause analysis and implement sustainable improvements
  • Manage staffing levels, absence, holidays and team performance
  • Ensure employees are appropriately trained and understand their responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager to deliver improvement and change projects
  • Maintain high standards of Health & Safety and manufacturing compliance

About you:

We are looking for an experienced, practical production leader who is comfortable spending time on the shop floor and engaging directly with their team. You will ideally have:

  • Previous production/manufacturing management or senior supervisory experience
  • Preferably automotive manufacturing experience
  • Strong people-management and leadership skills
  • Experience within a hands-on, shop-floor manufacturing environment
  • A good understanding of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
  • Experience of driving change and process improvements
  • Strong KPI and data-analysis skills
  • Root-cause analysis and problem-solving experience
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety within manufacturing
  • A proactive, results-focused approach

This could also suit an experienced Production Supervisor or Shift Manager who is ready to take the next step into a Production Manager position.

The package:

  • Salary: £50,000
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Working pattern: Monday–Thursday, 6:00am–4:30pm
  • Location: Tamworth
  • Contract: Permanent
