This position is responsible for parking vehicles for events taking place on campus and directing and controlling traffic flow during these events. Responsibilities also include helping out with security for concerts, assisting guests, and monitoring property and/or crowds of people during various activities and events.

Experience Required: N/A

Experience Preferred: Any traffic control experience such as fire police or internships with police departments is helpful but not required.

Skills, Characteristics Required for Position:

  • Must have the ability to work with people in a positive respectful manner.
  • Must maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
  • Must be able to work outside in a variety of elements such as heat, rain, ice and snow.
  • Must be able to remain calm in situations of verbal abuse from either guests or students.
  • Must maintain confidentiality of any and all information received.

Dress Code Requirements:

  • For inside events there are shirts to wear indicating they are STOs.
  • Must have outside clothing and wear it when it is inclement weather.
  • Will be given vests to wear when working outside.

Special Working Conditions:

  • Could be working outside in the heat or extreme cold.
  • Could be inside in a concert with hundreds of people and very warm and stuffy conditions.
  • Could be working outside in the freezing rain or snow.

Primary Duties:

  • Direct traffic for events
  • Control traffic flow during events
  • Helping with security in a college venue for concerts
  • Answer or assist guests’ questions
  • Operate college fleet vehicles
  • Monitor property and crowds during various activities and events such as soccer games
  • Maintain consistent and reliable attendance

Secondary Duties:

  • Assist with handing out parking permits
  • Assist in counting parking spaces
  • Assist in guarding doors at concerts that may hold personal items or expensive equipment
  • Other duties as assigned
