You are viewing a preview of this job. We are looking for an experienced Engineering Technician to join our Salisbury Construction team. In this role, you will:
- Support senior technicians and engineers administering construction contracts via construction inspection and, if needed, stakeout.
- Serve as lead project inspector on small/intermediate-sized projects.
- Perform standardized and non–standardized tests of various materials for acceptance in accordance with contract documents and incorporated specifications/requirements.
- Assist in supervising junior technicians and contractor staff and help in the coordination of assignments.
- Obtain and maintain certifications required to perform material sampling and testing.
- Write diaries and reports on project operations, complete material reports, document pay records, perform construction calculations, and enter data on computer/iPads.
What You Bring:
- Experience analyzing and interpreting highway construction plans.
- Experience maintaining/completing standard records, reports, and correspondence.
- Advanced working knowledge and experience with math functions in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
- Computer knowledge using iPads, laptops, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), HiCams, SharePoint, SharePlus, and math functions.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive communication between technicians, engineers, contractors, and the public.
- Solid verbal and written communications skills to communicate in a clear, concise, organized, and persuasive manner.
- Ability to make independent decisions using sound engineering judgement.
- Ability to work safely in an outside environment with exposure to hazards on construction sites, including heights, highway traffic, weather extremes, and traversing rough terrain in evaluating highway construction.
- Fitness to perform moderate physical activity, including walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing.
- Strength to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to work nights and weekends as required by project workload/staffing with fluctuating hours.
- You apply a safety philosophy and program to all operations.
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
Education & Experience:
- Associates Degree in Civil Engineering, Survey Technology, or a related discipline, and 2+ years of engineering technician experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
