The Opportunity
We are expanding our business with an exciting new vertical focused on financial services media planning and buying. This is a pivotal leadership role at director level with full operational responsibility for developing and growing this new business area, while leveraging our established expertise in reaching influential audiences.
The package will be strongly incentivised with a generous share options package giving a chance of achieving substantial capital gains if the business develops as the current shareholders envisage. This is the type of opportunity that can only come from a growth orientated business with a start-up mentality.
Role Overview
As Business Development Director for our Financial Services vertical, you will spearhead the development of a new division and revenue stream for MessageSpace, planning and buying B2B and above-the-line brand campaigns for financial services clients . You will have the autonomy to shape this new venture, supported by our existing team of political advertising experts.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the strategic vision for our financial services vertical
- Build and maintain relationships with potential clients in the financial services sector
- Identify and convert new business opportunities through your extensive industry network
- Create innovative media strategies and compelling proposals for financial services clients
- Oversee media planning and buying across various channels (digital, print, OOH, TV)
- Meet and exceed revenue targets for the new business vertical
- Drive exceptional campaign results that demonstrate clear ROI for clients
- Collaborate with the broader MessageSpace team to leverage existing political and elite audience targeting capabilities
- Represent MessageSpace at industry events and networking opportunities
- Stay ahead of industry trends and evolving media landscape
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in media planning and buying, with demonstrable success in winning and managing large client accounts
- Proven agency experience is essential; in-house media planning experience is a plus
- Extensive, established network of contacts within the financial services sector
- Strong understanding of B2B and brand campaign strategies
- Track record of successful new business development and client relationship management
- Experience creating and implementing cross-channel media campaigns
- Strategic thinker with entrepreneurial mindset and commercial acumen
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills
- Self-starter capable of working autonomously while collaborating effectively with others
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with financial services clients on B2B campaigns
- Proven client relationships
- Extensive knowledge of the UK media landscape, including new media technologies and traditional approaches.
- UK market expertise essential; EU experience highly valued
- Understanding of programmatic advertising and data-driven targeting approaches
- Media planning and/or advertising professional certifications will be highly beneficial
