The Regulatory Services Partnership, led by Merton Council, is seeking an experienced and motivated Private Sector Housing Officer to work across Wandsworth and Richmond. This unique cross-borough role offers the opportunity to gain experience in both an inner and outer London borough, working with a wide variety of housing conditions and residents.

About the role

You will play a key role in improving housing standards and protecting the health and safety of residents. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Inspecting and assessing housing conditions using HHSRS
  • Identifying and enforcing remedial actions
  • Providing clear, practical advice to landlords and tenants
  • Assessing Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) for licensing
  • Taking enforcement action, including civil penalties, where legislation is breached
  • Managing a varied and fast-paced caseload with professionalism and empathy
