The School of Commercial, Creative and Professional Studies at Merton College are seeking a Lecturer to deliver outstanding quality in teaching, learning and assessment on L1-L3 Professional Cookery courses including adults and 16-18-year-olds.
You will support the running of the commercial restaurant run by learners, as well as provide academic tutorial support to students in order to maximise achievement and continuous improvement. You will play a key role in supporting the development of the curriculum with employer engagement and learner skill development.
We are looking for someone who holds a teaching qualification (or is willing to work towards), qualified to a minimum of a degree in Hospitality and Catering and who has experience of teaching Hospitality and Catering in an FE College, School or Private Provider. You will have experience of teaching L1-L3 City and Guilds Professional Cookery courses with experience of running a commercial kitchen or training kitchen.
With strong evidence of good-to-outstanding teaching, learning, assessment and tracking and of effective employer engagement in curriculum design and delivery, you will be able to work under pressure and to strict validating body deadlines and provide evidence of assessment for moderation. You will have a successful record of setting and implementing target setting, monitoring and reviewing progress with the ability to use ProMonitor for setting targets, tracking of student progress and disciplinary procedures with a commitment to working and contributing to the overall effective performance of the Team.
The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that will be implemented in the new academic year. Closing date for the return of completed applications is 21st April 2025.
