Merton College is seeking a Facilities Officer to provide a range of essential premises related services, maintaining an attractive, safe, clean and welcoming learning environment.
Providing a visible, friendly, and helpful presence around the College, you will be responsible for caretaking, portering, repairs and maintenance, assisting with emergencies and deliveries. Monitoring and operating building management, security, and safety systems, you will identify, report and monitor day to day property damage and faults whilst providing assistance and support as necessary to Security colleagues.
We re looking for someone who has experience of the operation of and day-to-day running of buildings including knowledge of security procedures and oversight of contractors. You will have practical skills in carpentry, plumbing and/or painting and be comfortable operating heating systems. A large portion of this role involves manual handling therefore you must be comfortable with doing so in a safely manner.
Able to carry out a variety of maintenance tasks, you will work well under pressure, to strict deadlines and at times without supervision. Computer literate, including experience of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel, you will have working knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and procedures and be able to work as part of a team, communicating effectively with colleagues, customers and contractors.
A full clean driving licence is essential, as is the ability to carry out lifting and other physical maintenance tasks including working at height.
