Overview
We are seeking Residential Support Workers to help set up our own residential children\’s home within the Merthyr Tydfil County Borough. This is an exciting time to join the local authority as we begin to establish a residential arm to support some of the children and young people in our care. As a Residential Support Worker, you will be integral in providing a safe and secure environment in which our children and young people will live. You will support them to reach their full potential by providing them with opportunities to thrive.
Responsibilities
- Provide emotional and social support and manage challenging behaviour.
- Develop an understanding of early childhood trauma and the impact on the young people in our care.
- Support, as a staff team, the direct day-to-day care of children in all aspects of their life: daily routines, education attendance, activities, hobbies and community involvement.
- Undertake domestic and household tasks.
- Attend appointments and maintain contact with family and friends.
- Work 24-hour shifts on a rota basis to support this, including some sleep-in shifts.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Ability to speak Welsh is desirable.
- Rigorous pre-employment checks are undertaken for all appointments as part of our recruitment and selection process.
