Location: Archer Street, Troedyrhiw, Merthyr Tydfil

Role: Level 2 Teaching Assistant – temporary contract, term time only, starting 2nd September 2026 with a 6‑month probationary period and possible extension up to one year.

Hours: 27.5 per week.

Salary: £16,892.39 (£25,989 FTE)

We are seeking a caring, nurturing and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to support children aged 3‑11 years, particularly those with additional learning needs, in achieving their full potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Support groups of children in their learning and development.
  • Help deliver tailored learning programmes for pupils in both the Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2.
  • Contribute to maintaining high standards by supporting teaching and learning across the school.
  • Observe, record and report on pupils’ progress.

Qualifications:

  • Warm, patient and supportive approach to working with children.
  • Understanding of or experience supporting pupils with additional learning needs.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
  • Reliable, flexible and able to work as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to speak Welsh is desirable.
